W34 – Big Magic, creative living beyond fear.
Elizabeth Gilbert is on my list of “to go to writer / inspiring people” when it comes to get myself motivated. In order to be up to speed for 2016 last December I order Big Magic and i am finally catching up with all my readings. This is one of my favorite quote of the book: “My creative expression must be the most important thing in the world to me (if I am to live artistically), and it also must not matter at all (if I am to live sanely).” If I put it in a yogi’s perspective it’s a lot about being able to balance discipline (Tapas) and contentment (Santosha). Focus/hard working/training yourself and being able to let go of the results. Which also works vice versa, being able to let go of what is bothering you in order to get going and focus and work hard toward your next achievement/creation. This quote from Swami Vivekananda sum it up: “Be not afraid of anything. You will do marvelous work. It is fear that is the great cause of misery in the world. It is fear that is the greatest of all superstitions. It is fear that is the cause of all our woes, and it is fearlessness that brings heaven, even in a moment. Therefore arise, awake and stop not until the goal is reached”
